Jerry Bruckheimer and Paramount have signed a three-year deal for theatrical films that will begin in April. The two parties announced the new deal earlier today.
In the early '80s, Bruckheimer produced a number of hits for Paramount, such as Adrian Lyne's
Flashdance (1983), Martin Brest's
Beverly Hills Cop (1984), and Tony Scott's
Top Gun (1986).
The first film to be produced under the new deal will be the already announced
Beverly Hills Cop 4, which will be directed by Brett Ratner. Eddie Murphy is expected to return as Detroit cop Axel Foley.
Bruckheimer will also produce
Top Gun 2 with Tom Cruise. The project is currently being developed by Skydance Productions.
Following the official announcement Paramount Pictures chairman and CEO Brad Grey said: "Jerry Bruckheimer is one of the most creative and prolific producers in motion picture history. His signature style has attracted huge global audiences and we are thrilled to have him back in the Paramount family."
Bruckheimer also said in a statement: "It is great to be back at Paramount. I look forward to working with Brad Grey and his entire team."
