FUNimation Entertainment has announced and detailed the Blu-ray release of
Dragon Ball Z: Season 2, which features the next 35 episodes of the classic anime series, presented in remastered high definition. The 4-disc
Season 2 set arrives on Blu-ray on February 18, 2014.
Synopsis: Having suffered heavy losses in the battle with the Saiyans and with Goku still recovering from his injuries, the remaining Z-Fighters must embark on a perilous journey to Planet Namek in search of the Namekian Dragon Balls. Unbeknownst to them, however, a powerful new enemy has set his sights on the same prize: the ruthless tyrant Frieza!
Season 2 has undergone a frame-by-frame restoration to remove blemishes, tape marks and other damage from the film. All three audio tracks have been remastered as well, colors are improved, and a shot-by-shot reframing of the entire series was done to create a "modern HD widescreen presentation".
The Blu-ray release of
Season 2 includes episodes 40-74, presented in 1080p at a 16:9 aspect ratio. The set features Japanese audio and two English tracks: the U.S. English broadcast version and English dialogue with Japanese music.
