Lionsgate Films has announced that it will release SteelBook editions of a number of classic catalog titles:
Pulp Fiction, Total Recall, Sin City, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Rambo: First Blood, Stargate, Highlander, Hero and
Apocalypse Now/Apocalypse Now Redux. Each release will have a suggested retail price of $19.99.
Street date is November 24th.
Pulp Fiction
An inside look at a memorable community of criminals. Prizefighter Butch Coolidge has decided to stop payment on a deal he's made with the devil. Honey Bunny and Pumpkin are a couple of young lovers and small time thieves who decide they need a change of venue. Meanwhile, two career criminals, Vincent Vega and Jules, go about their daily business of shooting up other crooks who are late on payments to their boss. While one is asked to babysit their boss' dangerously pretty young wife, the other suddenly realizes that he must give up his life of crime.
Total Recall
Doug Quaid (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a happily married construction worker living in the year 2084, is haunted by a recurrent dream in which he is living with a woman on Mars. Rekall Incorporated offer him the chance to live out his dream through a microchip which implants any memories their client desires into their brain. But something goes wrong during the installation of Quaid's memories of a trip to Mars and soon he lands up on the planet for real, unsure of his true identity and pursued by a gang out for his blood. He teams up with a group of resistance fighters to uncover a mystery which leads to the highest echelons of the planet's government.
Sin City
Adaptation of the award-winning comic series created by Frank Miller. Interweaving multiple storylines from the series' history, the film paints a picture of the ultimate town through the eyes of its roughest characters. There's the street thug Marv (Mickey Rourke), whose desperate quest to find the killer of a prostitute named Goldie (Jaime King) will lead him to the foulest edges of town. Inhabiting many of those areas is Dwight (Clive Owen), a photographer in league with the sordid ladies of Sin City, headed by Gail (Rosario Dawson), who opens up a mess of trouble after tangling with a corrupt cop by the name of Jackie Boy (Benicio Del Toro). Finally, there's Hartigan (Bruce Willis), an ex-cop with a heart problem who's hell-bent on protecting a stripper named Nancy (Jessica Alba).
Kill Bill: Volume 1
The return of renowned filmmaker Quentin Tarantino after an absence of 6 years. Uma Thurman stars as The Bride, one-fifth of a team of assassins called DiVAS. When she decides to get married and leave the outfit her boss, Bill (David Carradine), is not a happy man and gets her former colleagues to show up at the wedding; leaving behind a blood bath and The Bride shot in the head. Four years later, The Bride sets out on a journey of revenge which is ultimately to kill her former boss, Bill. The film was due to be three hours long but was split into two films (hence the name) and Volume 2 concludes the story.
Kill Bill: Volume 2
Having dispensed with former colleagues O-Ren Ishii and Vernita Green in the first volume, The Bride (Uma Thurman) resumes her quest for justice in this second installment of Tarantino's jaw-droppingly violent homage to action films from both East and West. The Bride now has two remaining foes on her 'Death List', Budd (Michael Madsen) and Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah) - before she moves on to her ultimate goal - to kill Bill (David Carradine).
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
In this sequel to 'The Terminator', young John Connor (Edward Furlong), the future leader of a human rebellion in a machine-dominated world, is under threat from the new T-1000 Terminator (Robert Patrick) - an improved, virtually unkillable model. The adult John sends a copy of the original Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) back in time, this time to protect the boy and his mother, Sarah (Linda Hamilton). As the battle of the behemoths begins, those on the side of good realise that they can alter the future enough to stop the slaughter on 'Judgement Day' when the computers commenced Armageddon.
First Blood
First film in the Rambo trilogy. Disturbed Vietnam vet John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) spends his days wandering from town to town, searching out his old service colleagues. When he resists a local sheriff's attempts to make him leave town, he is arrested for vagrancy. While in prison Rambo is forced to endure the abuse of a sadistic deputy, until he escapes and takes to the woods, relying on his old army skills to survive.
Stargate: The Movie
Hard-bitten Colonel 'Jack' O'Neil (Kurt Russell) and Egyptologist Doctor Daniel Jackson (James Spader) are sent on a mission to investigate the theory that the pyramids were built by shape-changing aliens as a means of communication and pan-galactic travel. The pair arrive on a distant desert planet where they whip up the planet's natives into a rebellion against their dictator, Ra (Jaye Davidson).
Hero
From acclaimed Chinese director Zhang Yimou comes this film set during the 'warring states' period in Chinese history when the country was divided into seven kingdoms. A low–ranking sheriff comes to the court of the king of one of the most powerful regions to claim a prize for killing three legendary warriors – Broken Sword, Flying Snow and Sky. But just how much of what the sheriff says can be trusted?
Highlander
Connor McCloud (Christopher Lambert) is a Scotsman from the Middle Ages who discovers that he cannot be killed in battle. Cast out by his clan, who believe him to be a witch, he is befriended by another Immortal, Ramirez (Sean Connery), who teaches him of the Gathering, a magical event which can be experienced by one of their kind when all the others are slain. Immortals can only be killed by being beheaded, and in the Twentieth century McCloud has only one Immortal left to face in battle - the evil Kurgan.
Apocalypse Now
A new cut of the multi-million dollar Vietnam psychedelic epic, with director Francis Ford Coppola adding 55 minutes of deleted scenes. The Vietnam War rages and US Captain Willard (Martin Sheen) is sent on a mission to assassinate Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando), a renegade American officer who has set up his own kingdom in the heart of the jungle. His journey begins with a devastating aerial assault on a small Vietnamese village, the attacking helicopters booming Wagner's 'Ride of the Valkyrie' out of their speakers, and becomes progressively more deranged as it moves up the river.
