Sony Pictures Classics has released an official U.S. trailer for acclaimed director Asghar Farhadi's latest film, Le Passe a.k.a The Past (2013), starring Bérénice Bejo (The Artist), Tahar Rahim (A Prophet), and Ali Mosaffa (Leila). The film will open in select theaters across the nation on December 20th.
Earlier this year, The Past won Best Actress Award (Bejo) and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the Cannes Film Festival. The film was also selected to represent Iran in the Foreign Language Film Category of the 86th Academy Awards.
After four years of separation, Ahmad arrives in Paris from Teheran. He has been asked to come by Marie, his French wife, so that they can proceed with their divorce. During his brief stay in the city, Ahmad witnesses the conflictual relationship between Marie and daughter Lucie. His efforts to make the relationship better will reveal a past secret.
