French label Wild Side Video has released a brand new promo trailer for its upcoming Limited Edition Blu-ray release of director Joseph H. Lewis' Gun Crazy a.k.a Deadly is the Female (1950), starring John Dall, Peggy Cummins, Berry Kroeger, Harry Lewis, Anabel Shaw, and Morris Carnovsky. The release, which is part of Wild Side Video's Art of Noir series, will be available for purchase in France on December 4th.
Classic B-movie noir, very loosely based on the story of 1930s gangsters Bonnie and Clyde, which was a major influence on Godard and other directors of the French New Wave. When Annie (Cummins), a sexy sideshow sharpshooter, threatens to abandon new husband Bart (Dall) to his humdrum ambitions, he reluctantly joins her on a cross-country life of robbing banks. Loving guns, but never having used them for killing before, Bart finds himself being led into a fast and deadly world of greed and violence by the amoral woman he loves. Millard Kaufman fronted for the blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo who co-wrote the screenplay.
