Kino Lorber has released an official U.S. trailer for director Kim Mordaunt's debut film The Rocket (2013), starring Sitthiphon Disamoe, Loungnam Kaosainam, Thep Phongam, and Alice Keohavong. The film opens on January 10 in New York City and on January 17 in Los Angeles, CA.
Earlier this year, The Rocket won Best Debut Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. It was also selected to represent Australia at the 86th Academy Awards, to be hosted on March 2, 2014.
Synopsis: A boy who is believed to bring bad luck leads his family (and a couple of ragged misfits) through Laos to find a new home. After a calamity-filled journey through a land scarred by war, the boy builds a giant rocket to prove he's not cursed and to enter the most lucrative but dangerous competition of the year: a rocket festival.
