Worldview Entertainment announced today that it will finance and produce Japanese director Takashi Miike's (Ichi the Killer, 13 Assassins) latest project, The Outsider (2015). QED International will promote the film to international buyers.
The Outsider is based on an original idea by John Linson (executive producer, Sons of Anarchy). The film's script was written by Andrew Baldwin. Shooting is expected to begin in Japan in early 2014.
Currently, The Outsider is described as an epic set in post-WWII Japan and centered on an American former G.I. who joins a powerful Yakuza family. Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises, Inception) will play the former G.I.
Note: The following films directed by Takashi Miike are currently available on Blu-ray in the United States: Audition, Ichi the Killer, Sukiyaki Western Django, Crows Zero, Zebraman 2: Attack on Zebra City, 13 Assassins, and Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai.
