Upcoming Star Wars Film Gets New Writers

Lucasfilm announced today that Star Wars: Episode VII will have a new screenwriting team. According to the official announcement, Michael Arndt has been replaced by director J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan. Disney's highly anticipated Star Wars sequel is set to open in theaters across the United States in 2015.
Kasdan co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The 64-year-old writer/director also wrote the screenplay for Steven Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark.
In 2007, Arndt won an Oscar Award for Best Writing, Original Screenplay (Little Miss Sunshine).
