Fox Home Entertainment and MGM Home Entertainment have announced five war film classics coming to Blu-ray on June 3rd. MGM will bring '
Battle of Britain' and '
A Bridge Too Far', while '
The Longest Day', '
Patton', and '
The Sand Pebbles' will come from Fox. Video for titles will be presented in widescreen and accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.
'The Longest Day' will include historical commentary with Mary Corey, film commentary with Ken Annakin, four featurettes ("A Day to Remember", "Longest Day: A Salute to Courage", "Backstory - The Longest Day", and "D-Day Revisited"), stills gallery, and original trailer.
The Blu-ray release of 'Patton' will include introduction and commentary by writer Francis Ford Coppola, two featurettes ("History Through the Lens: 'Patton: A Rebel Revisited'" and "Patton's Ghost Corps"), the documentary "The Making of Patton", production stills gallery with complete musical score by Jerry Goldsmith, a behind-the-scenes gallery with an audio essay on Patton, and the original trailer.
'The Sand Pebbles' will include commentary by Robert Wise, Candice Bergen, Mako and Richard Crenna, isolated score track with commentary by music producer Nick Redman, film music historian Jon Burnlingame and screen writer & film historian Lem Dobbs, trivia track, 13 deleted "Road Show" scenes, original trailer, and two radio documentaries ("Changsha Bund and the Streets of Taipei" and "A Ship Called San Pablo") narrated by Richard Attenborough. Additionally, the release will have six featurettes, including "The Making of Sand Pebbles", "Steve McQueen Remembered", "Bob Wise in Command", "China 1926", "A Ship Called San Pablo", and "The Secret of the San Pablo".
No extras have been announced for 'Battle of Britain' or 'A Bridge Too Far' at this time.
