The Cinema Guild Acquires Lav Diaz’s "Norte, The End of History"

The Cinema Guild announced today the acquisition of all U.S. distribution rights to Lav Diaz's "Norte, The End of History." The film premiered in Un Certain Regard at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and will receive its US premiere as an official selection of the New York Film Festival. "Norte" will open theatrically in 2014.

A man is wrongly jailed for murder while the real killer roams free. The murderer is an intellectual frustrated with his country's never-ending cycle of betrayal and apathy. The convict is a simple man who finds life in prison more tolerable when something mysterious and strange starts happening to him.

"With 'Norte,' Lav Diaz has crafted a grand, complex and epic work," commented Ryan Krivoshey, "a truly visionary film that will captivate audiences upon its release and for many years to come. We're thrilled to be releasing it."

The deal was negotiated by Ryan Krivoshey of The Cinema Guild with producer Moira Lang.
