For the week that ended on September 15th, Paramount Home Media Entertainment's Star Trek Into Darkness scored the top figures on the Blu-ray and overall package media charts. The sequel to filmmaker J.J. Abrams' Summer 2009 blockbuster, Star Trek Into Darkness has weathered a fair amount of negative critical attention despite its relatively strong box-office performance last May; it scored a good Metacritic rating of 72% and grossed over $465 million worldwide on top of its $190 million budget. In addition to debuting at number one on the home media markets, this star-studded escapist feature had a robust Blu-ray market share of 72%.

Next on the Blu-ray-only and overall package media rankings was Lionsgate and Summit Home Entertainment's Now You See Me. A sleeper hit of last summer's movie slate, Now You See Me had a Metacritic rating of 50% and grossed over $317 million worldwide off its $75 million budget. Of its home media sales figures, the film had an HD market share of 36% and sold 5% as many Blu-rays as Star Trek Into Darkness. Regarding the overall media list, the film sold 11% as many total units as the sci-fi adventure.

Finally, Warner Home Entertainment's release of the hit CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Sixth Season rounded out the top three spots on the Blu-ray-only and overall package media lists. Over six years, this brainchild of Bill Prady and Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre has made a name for itself as one of the network's most beloved sitcoms, garnering both popular and critical accolades for its cast and crew. On Blu-ray, The Big Bang Theory sold 3% as many discs as Star Trek Into Darkness and had an HD market share of 26%. On the overall package media list, it sold 9% as many units.
