Universal Studios UK will release on Blu-ray director Linshan Zhao's period film The Assassins (2012), starring Chow Yun-Fat, Crystal Liu Yi Fei,
Hiroshi Tamaki, and Alec Su. The release will be available for purchase online and in shops across the United Kingdom on September 9th.
Director Linshan Zhao's historical action drama focuses on two assassination attempts on the life of a prominent Chinese warlord. Set in the late 210s, shortly before the fall of the Han Dynasty, the story follows the later years of Cao Cao (Chow Yun-Fat), a fearsome warlord who over previous decades has gained complete domination of his rivals. But unknown to Cao Cao, a group of his enemies have been plotting against him for years, recruiting the children of his dead opponents and training them as assassins. As the year 221 begins, two of the now fully grown children, Lingju (Crystal Liu) and Mu Shun (Hiroshi Tamaki), travel to Cao Cao's court to fulfil their destinies...
