Twentieth Century Fox and Pathe have released the first trailer for acclaimed director Stephen Frears' latest project, Philomena (2013), starring Judi Dench, Steve Coogan, Charlie Murphy, Simone Lahbib, Sophie Kennedy Clark, and Charles Edwards. The film is set to arrive in theaters across the United Kingdom on November 1. In the United States, The Weinstein Company will distribute the film later this year.

Official synopsis: Based on the 2009 investigative book by BBC correspondent Martin Sixsmith, The Lost Child of Philomena Lee, this film focuses on the efforts of Philomena Lee (Dench), mother to a boy conceived out of wedlock — something Philomena's Irish-Catholic community didn't have the highest opinion of — and given away for adoption in the United States. Following church doctrine, she was forced to sign a contract that wouldn't allow for any sort of inquiry into her son's whereabouts. After starting a family years later in England and, for the most part, moving on with her life, Philomena meets Sixsmith (Coogan), a BBC reporter with whom she decides to track down her long-lost son.

Note: The following films directed by Stephen Frears are currently available on Blu-ray: Lay the Favorite, Tamara Drewe, Cheri, The Queen, Mrs. Henderson Presents, High Fidelity, Dirty Pretty Things, The Grifters, Dangerous Liaisons, and The Hit.
