Hungary has selected director János Szász's The Notebook a.k.a Le grand cahier (2013), to represent it in the Foreign Language section of the upcoming Oscar awards. The film stars András Gyémánt, László Gyémánt, Gyöngyvér Bognár, Ulrich Thomsen and Ulrich Matthes.
Earlier this year, The Notebook won the prestigious Crystal Globe Award for Best Film at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
Based on Agota Kristóf's bestselling novel of the same name, the film tells the story of two brothers who struggle to survive during WW2.
