Relativity Media has released the first trailer for director Scott Cooper's highly anticipated new film Out of the Furnace (2013), starring Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson, Forest Whitaker, Sam Shepard, Willem Dafoe, Casey Affleck, and Zoe Saldana, and featuring a score by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. Currently, the film is set to arrive in theaters across the United States on Decmber 6th.
Official synopsis: Russell Baze (Bale) works a dead-end job at the local steel mill, as his terminally ill father did before him. When Russell's brother Rodney (Affleck) returns home from serving time in Iraq, he gets lured into one of the most ruthless crime rings in the Northeast and mysteriously disappears. The police fail to crack the case, so - with nothing left to lose - Russell takes matters into his own hands, putting his life on the line to seek justice for his brother. Sometimes your battles choose you.
Note: In 2010, director Cooper's previous film, Crazy Heart, won Oscar Awards for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Jeff Bridges) and Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song (Ryan Bingham, T-Bone Burnett).
