A new U.S. trailer for veteran Hong Kong director Johnnie To's Drug War (2012) has been released. Texas-based distributors Well Go USA and Variance Films are bringing the film to U.S. theaters. Drug War will be screened at the IFC Center on July 26th, and then will head to Los Angeles where it will open in select theaters on August 2.
Earlier this year, Drug War was nominated for three Asian Film Awards, including Best Film and Best Screenwriter.
A preliminary Blu-ray release date for the U.S. market is yet to be revealed.
Official synopsis: Captain Zhang (Sun Honglei) and his team will stop at nothing to track down drug criminals. When drug lord Timmy Choi (Louis Koo) is captured, a deal to help Zhang bust a major cocaine ring could save him from the death penalty. But Captain Zhang doesn't trust Timmy Choi is truly betraying his partners. He becomes more and more suspicious as steps are taken to raid the ironclad drug factory...
