Runaway Train Blu-ray

British distributors Arrow Video have officially announced and detailed their upcoming Dual Format Edition of Russian director Andrey Konchalovskiy's Runaway Train (1985), starring Jon Voight, Eric Roberts, and Rebecca De Mornay. Re-mastered in high-definition by MGM and screened in the Classics Section of the Cannes Film Festival, Runaway Train will be available for purchase in the United Kingdom on July 22.

Following its debut at the 1986 Cannes Film Festival, Runaway Train went on to be nominated for a total of three Academy Awards (Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Editing) and three Golden Globe Awards (Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor). To this day it remains one of Cinema's greatest classic break-out movies.

Based on a script by Akira Kurosawa (Seven Samurai), with hardboiled prison slang added by real-life ex-con Edward Bunker (Mr. Blue in Reservoir Dogs), this riveting thriller also boasts Oscar-nominated performances from Jon Voight and Eric Roberts – with Voight playing spectacularly against type as a criminal so vicious that he served much of his sentence welded into his cell. Combining electrifying action with constant psychological tension, Runaway Train is one of Cinema's great thrill-rides.
