For the week that ended on June 2nd, Lionsgate Home Entertainment's
The Last Stand remained in the number one spot on the Blu-ray-only chart. The Arnold Schwarzenegger thriller has performed strongly on home media following a slightly disappointing box-office run (it garnered a
Metacritic score of 54% and a
worldwide box-office gross of $37 million on top of its $45 million budget).
The Last Stand had a Blu-ray market share of 41%.
Next up on the Blu-ray-only rankings was Anchor Bay's release of
Dark Skies. This sci-fi-horror film netted the Weinstein Company a modest profit after it premiered in February;
the $3.5-million picture grossed over $23 million worldwide.
Dark Skies had a Blu-ray market share of 30%, and it sold 80% as many HD units as
The Last Stand. When taking into consideration total package media units,
Dark Skies actually came out ahead of
The Last Stand - there,
The Last Stand was in second place and sold 92% as many total units as
Dark Skies.
Finally, Paramount Home Media Distribution's
Star Trek re-emerged on the Blu-ray-only list at third place, a condition bolstered by the current box-office performance of its sequel,
Star Trek Into Darkness.
Star Trek had a 57% HD market share and sold 66% as many Blu-rays as
The Last Stand, though it ranked far lower - at number sixteen - on the overall package media list. The third position on that grouping fell to
Parker, the Jason Statham actioner that scored a
43% Metacritic grade and a
domestic box-office gross of just over $17 million.
Parker drew a Blu-ray market share of 27% and moved 88% as many total units as
The Last Stand.
