Doppelgänger Releasing, the new genre label of Music Box Films, has officially announced the Blu-ray release of writer/director Boris Rodriguez's Eddie: The Sleepwalking Cannibal, starring Danish superstar Thure Lindhardt, Georgina Reilly and Dylan Smith. The horror-comedy and film festival favorite streets on August 6th.
Synopsis: Frustrated, former art-scene darling Lars (Lindhardt) takes a teaching job in a small town as a "therapeutic measure" to stir up his creative juices. Life in the peaceful hamlet at first appears to be rosy, as Lars settles in and impresses his beautiful colleague Lesley (Georgina Reilly) by taking in the brawny, mute Eddie (Dylan Smith) after his caregiver passes away. But Lars soon discovers that Eddie suffers from a rare form of somnambulism that transforms him from a docile, cereal-obsessed art student into a ravenous sleepwalking cannibal. Initially horrified by Eddie's dark secret, Lars soon becomes enthralled by the not-so-gentle giant, who truly becomes the muse that Lars has been searching for. But as Lars' artistic endeavors grow in scope and acclaim, so does the body count created by Eddie's gruesome nocturnal activities.
Eddie: The Sleepwalking Cannibal recently won the Grand Prize of European Fantasy Film in Silver at the Leeds International Film Festival, while writer/director Boris Rodriguez picked up the Black Tulip Award for Best Feature Debut at the Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival.
