Now that Blu-ray has been selected as the next generation optical disc, Sony is investing $100M in equipment purchases and property improvements to their Terre Haute Digital Audio Disc Corp (DADC) production facility. The additional investment also includes the addition of 65 positions to manage the new production increases.
Sony is still working out the details of the expansion, but there may be an opportunity to retrofit existing workspace formally operated by Columbia House/BMG. No word on how much additional production capacity would be gained with this expansion at this time.
