Zentropa Entertainments and Scandinavian distributor Nordisk Film revealed today that controversial Danish helmer Lars von Trier's latest film, Nymphomaniac, will have its world premiere in Denmark on December 25. The film stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, Shia LaBeouf, Uma Thurman and Jamie Bell.

In the U.S., Magnolia Pictures is yet to announce an official release date.

Early reports indicate that the Danish director's latest film will be available in two versions: a sanitized Rated-R cut and NC-17 version. TrustNordisk is in charge with international sales.

Here's the official synopsis for Nymphomaniac: The film is a wild and poetic story of a woman's erotic journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Gainsbourg). On a cold winter's evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman (Skarsgård), finds Joe beaten up in an alley. He brings her home to his flat where he cares for her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushly branched-out and multi-faceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.

Note: The following films directed by Lars von Trier are currently available on Blu-ray: Antichrist, Melancholia, and Dancer in the Dark.
