Acer Launches Blu-ray Notebooks

At a press event Wednesday, Acer (who recently acquired both Gateway and Packard Bell computer manufacturers) announced the arrival of their Aspire Gemstone Blue 6920g and 8920g notebook computers. Seemingly built for Blu-ray playback, these notebooks feature a Blu-ray drive (of course), 1080p displays, and a 5.1 speaker set-up.
The 6920g features a 16" display, while going for the 8920g will bump that up to 18.4", both featuring 1080p resolution. The speaker system features a built-in subwoofer, which has been designed to operate without disrupting hard drive movement.
Acer hopes to challenge industry hotshots Dell and HP who currently own the high-end laptop arena.
