For the week that ended on May 5th, Anchor Bay and the Weinstein Company's Silver Linings Playbook debuted at number one on the Blu-ray and overall package media lists. This Academy Award-winning romantic-comedy - it netted a Best Actress Oscar for Jennifer Lawrence's lead performance - brought critical and commercial acclaim to The Fighter director David O. Russell, earning over $235 million in worldwide box-office grosses. During this past week of sales, Silver Linings Playbook drew a Blu-ray market share of 40%.

Coming in at number two on the Blu-ray-only and overall package media rankings was Twentieth Century Fox's Broken City. The film, which starred Russell's The Fighter, I Heart Huckabees, and Three Kings collaborator Mark Wahlberg, mustered a 49% Metacritic score and a disappointing domestic gross at the box-office of just under $20 million (on top of a projected $35 million production budget). Still, the film managed a decent home media premiere, garnering a Blu-ray market share of 41% and selling 43% as many Blu-rays as Silver Linings Playbook and 41% as many total units.

Finally, Anchor Bay and the Weinstein Company's Django Unchained dropped to number three on the Blu-ray-only media list. This darkly comic Western brought filmmaker Quentin Tarantino widespread acclaim after it premiered theatrically, earning over $420 million worldwide and receiving five Oscar nominations; it ultimately won two, for Tarantino's original script and for Christoph Waltz's performance as Dr. King Schultz. Last week, Django Unchained drew a Blu-ray market share of 43% and sold 37% as many Blu-rays as Silver Linings Playbook. On the overall home media chart, the film occupied fourth place (the dramedy The Guilt Trip took the third spot) and moved 34% as many total units as Silver Linings Playbook.
