Independent British distributors Arrow Video confirmed today that the worldwide Blu-ray premiere of Mario Bava's horror classic Black Sabbath has been delayed by two weeks due to further picture and audio restoration requirements. It will now be released on Monday May 13th 2013.
The deluxe edition of Black Sabbath will be worth the wait – it features both the original Italian version of the film and the re-edited, re-dubbed and re-scored American version, together and fully restored for the first time anywhere in the world, along with a host of special features, bonus material and exclusive artwork.
By way of an apology, and to further whet fans' appetites for what is one of the most anticipated horror releases of 2013, Arrow have uploaded an extract from one of the newly produced special features included on the release. The below clip, entitled "Twice The Fear", is part of a brand new 30-minute exploration into the differences between the Italian and American versions of the film.
Note: Although the two were originally billed as a "deliciously horrific Mario Bava double bill", the release date for Bava's Baron Blood on Blu-ray & DVD remains as Monday 29th April (this coming Monday).
