Walt Disney Home Entertainment has officially announced and detailed the Blu-ray release of co-writers/directors Ron Clements and John Musker's The Little Mermaid and The Little Mermaid 3D. Backed by a full video and audio restoration, Disney's 28th animated feature makes its long-awaited Blu-ray debut on October 1st.
The film is available for pre-order via four Diamond Edition variations:
Synopsis: Free-spirited mermaid Ariel (voiced by Jodi Benson, Toy Story 3) sets off on the adventure of a lifetime with her best friend, the adorable Flounder (Jason Marin, Back to the Future), and a reggae-singing Caribbean crab named Sebastian (Samuel E. Wright, The Lion King Broadway show) at her side. But it will take all of her courage and determination to make her dreams come true, and to save her father Triton's (Kenneth Mars, Young Frankenstein) beloved kingdom from the sneaky sea witch Ursula (Pat Carroll, Laverne and Shirley).
The film's voice cast also includes Buddy Hackett (The Music Man) as Scuttle, Christopher Daniel Barnes (The Brady Bunch Movie) as Eric, Ben Wright (The Jungle Book) as Grimsby, Paddi Edwards (Hercules) as Flotsam and Jetsam, Edie McClurg (Ferris Bueller's Day Off) as Carlotta the Maid, Will Ryan (The Land Before Time) as Harold the Seahorse and Rene Auberjonois (The Patriot) as Chef Louis.
