Acclaimed director Martin Scorsese will direct a film about 17th century Jesuits who risk their lives to bring Christianity to Japan. The film will be based on Japanese director Shusaku Endo's novel Silence. Shooting is expected to begin in July 2014 in Taiwan.
Currently, the American director is finishing The Wolf of Wall Street, a crime thriller adapted from the 1990 best seller by Jordan Belfort, a former Wall Street trader who was jailed for fraud and inside trading. The film, which will open in theaters across the U.S. on November 15th, stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey, Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, and Rob Reiner.
