Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of Shaft (2000), director John Singleton's action-packed sequel to the original 1971 cult classic of the same name. The film stars Samuel L. Jackson, Christian Bale, Jeffrey Wright, Toni Collette, Busta Rhymes, Vanessa Williams and Mekhi Phifer, and arrives on Blu-ray on August 13th.
Official Synopsis: Who delivers ten times out of ten? Jackson is Shaft, the man and the movie. Singleton (Boys 'n' the Hood) directs this gritty action-packed thriller. With his uncle John Shaft (Richard Roundtree, reprising his original role) as his mentor, it 's no surprise that today's Shaft is the coolest dude and the hottest action around. To stop a racist killer (Bale), Shaft has to track down the only eyewitness (Collette) that can put the perpetrator behind bars. As Shaft closes in, so does the danger. Armed with attitude, and up against corrupt cops and venomous drug lords, he's out to make crime pay up.
Tech specs, special features and final cover art have yet to be revealed. Shaft is being distributed by Warner Bros. as a part of the studio's 600-film distribution deal with Paramount Home Entertainment.
