The British Film Institute has officially announced its upcoming Dual Format edition of John Krish's (The Elephant Will Never Forget, I Think They Call Him John) Captured (1959). Commissioned as a military training film and previously only shown to a highly restricted audience of military officials, Captured will be available for purchase on April 15th.
This realistic and disturbing prisoner of war drama demonstrates how British POWs responded to brainwashing and torture techniques during the Korean War, thereby revealing what a soldier could expect if he was ever captured by the communist enemy.
The set includes four more films by John Krish including H.M.P (1976), a compelling recruitment film made for the prison service and the violent public safety film, The Finishing Line (1977). There is also a newly shot interview in which the director talks about his life and work.
