Paramount Returns to TV Production, Teams Up With Sony

Paramount Pictures will return to TV production for the first time since 2005. The company will join forces with Sony Pictures Television to co-produce a pilot for a series based on Martin Brest's hit Beverly Hills Cop (1984).

The announcement was made earlier today by Paramount Pictures chairman and CEO Brad Grey.

The project is executive produced by Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and Eddie Murphy, who appeared in all three Beverly Hills Cop films. The project was also scripted by Ryan. Acclaimed filmmaker Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, Get Shorty) will direct the pilot.
