The German AV website Area DVD has revealed that the upcoming
Samsung BD-P1500 is expect to hit German stores sometime this April. The player, which was initially expected to be released this summer, will support BonusView (Profile v1.1) features and retail for around $400. A HDMI v1.3 connection will allow for the bit streaming of both Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio. An Ethernet port will be provided for updating firmware.
Samsung has also revealed that they currently have no intention of releasing the
BD-UP5000 Blu-ray and HD DVD combo player to Europe. No decision has been made regarding the upcoming
BD-UP5500 universal player which was initially expected to ship this summer.
No information was given about a possible US release bump, but we expect it be released in most regions around the same time.
