In France, Blu-ray sales increased 9.3 percent to $297.9 million (€223.7 million) in 2012, according to a recent report published by the National Cinema Center (CNC), the country's biggest regulatory and promotional organization.
Overall home entertainment revenues, however, were down 8.7 percent from 2011. Sales of DVDs in particular were down 8.9 percent.
According to the same report, French consumers purchased 36.8 million copies of American movies, representing a total of 62.8 percent of the market, while French produced films retained 23.7 percent. Blu-ray releases of French films rose 17.8 percent, but DVD sales declined 6.9 percent.

The Intouchables was the best-selling title on the home video market. The film was selected to represent France in the Foreign Language Category of the 85th Academy Awards.
