New York-based distributor A24 has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Sofia Coppola's latest project, The Bling Ring (2013), starring Emma Watson, Leslie Mann and Taissa Farmiga. Currently, the film is set to be released theatrically in June.
Coppola also wrote the script for the film, which is based on a Vanity Fair article by Nancy Jo Sales ("The Suspects Wore Louboutins").
The Bling Ring tells the story of a group of teenagers who robbed a number of celebrities in 2008 and 2009, amongst them Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, and Rachel Bilson.
