Amazon's Blu-ray Deal of the Week affects Warner Home Entertainment's 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition of Casablanca. Through December 22nd, Amazon is offering the set for $29.99 (a 54% discount from its MSRP of $64.99).
One of cinema's most beloved films, Casablanca centers around Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre), an American expatriate who finds his protestations of neutrality during the Second World War tested when his old flame Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman, Notorious) re-enters his life looking for someone to help her husband, the heroic Czech Resistance leader Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid, Night Train to Munich).
This romantic drama won three Academy Awards - Best Original Screenplay: Julius J. Epstein, Philip G. Epstein, & Howard Koch; Best Director: Michael Curtiz; and Best Picture - after its release in 1942 and was more recently honored with the American Film's Institute's distinction as the second greatest American film ever made.
Warner's 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition presents an all-new 4K restoration of the film alongside a number of bonus supplements, such as audio commentaries, numerous behind-the-scenes documentaries, rare deleted scenes and outtakes, Casablanca stage sessions and radio broadcasts, and Warner's Night at the Movies viewing mode, all packaged inside a Blu-ray box that includes a full size reproduction of the original 1942 film poster, a sixty-two-page production art book that includes never-before-seen photos, personal memos, and archival documents about the production, and four collectible drink coasters.
This deal expires at 12 AM PST/3 AM EST next Sunday, December 23rd.
