Blu-ray Sales: July 26-August 1: Mortal Kombat II Kills Bill and Stranger Things

For the week that ended on August 1st, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mortal Kombat II topped the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its debut, beating out Lionsgate Home Entertainment's Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, which took second place on the Blu-ray-only chart, but nonetheless, was the week's top 4K UHD release. Third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Arrow Video's Stranger Things: The Complete Series (2016-2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 10-16

For the week of August 10th, Alliance Entertainment and MGM will release Project Hail Mary on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Other new releases include Barbarian (2022) from Disney and 20th Century Studios, Hokum and EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert from Decal Releasing, The Furious from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, Tuner from Black Bear, Dolly from Shudder and both Panda Plan: The Magical Tribe and Seven Snipers from Well Go USA. Catalog titles include 4K UHD releases for New York, New York (1977) and Death Warrant from MVD Visual, Mars Attacks! from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Ju-on: The Grudge from Arrow Video.

Magic 4K Blu-ray

Scream Factory is preparing a 4K Blu-ray release of Richard Attenborough's Magic (1978), starring Anthony Hopkins, Ann-Margret, Burgess Meredith, Ed Lauter, and David Ogden Stiers. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on October 6.

Minions & Monsters Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Pierre Coffin and Patrick Delage's Minions & Monsters (2026), featuring the voices of Pierre Coffin, Allison Janney, George Lucas, Christoph Waltz, and Jeff Bridges. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on September 8.

For the week of January 23rd, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will release Violent Night on Blu-ray. Other new releases include Inu-Oh from Shout Factory, Glorious from RLJE Films and Mindcage from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. Catalog titles include 4K UHD upgrades for Death Wish (1974) from Kino Lorber Belly from Lionsgate and Freaky from Shout, as well as Blu-rays for The Dentist Collection from Lionsgate and The Jackie Chan Collection: Volume 1 (1976-1982) from Shout.

Discotek Media has announced its March batch of Blu-ray releases. They are: Another (2012), Lupin III: Swallowtail Tattoo (2004), Treasure Island (1978-1979), and Mononoke: The Complete TV Series (2007). In April, the label will also bring to Blu-ray Gunbuster: The Complete OVA Series (1988-1989).

For the week that ended on January 14th, it's déjŕ vu all over again as Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Black Adam topped both the the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its second week, Paramount Home Media Distribution's Top Gun: Maverick remained in second place on the Blu-ray-only chart, while Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Halloween Ends stayed in third place.
