Zathura: A Space Adventure Blu-ray Movie Review

Sony has re-released 'Zathura' to Blu-ray in celebration of its 10th anniversary. This edition contains several new bonus features in addition to all of the content from the older release. Zathura: A Space Adventure Blu-ray Movie, Video Quality 

This 20th anniversary Blu-ray re-release of Zathura appears, by all accounts, to offer the same transfer found on the 2011 release. Sony has made no mention of a new presentation either in press materials or on the Blu-ray packaging. Screenshots have been selected to correspond to those from the older release.

This 10th anniversary re-release of Zathura appears to contain the same DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless soundtrack found on the previous release. Addiitonal audio and subtitle options carry over between releases.

This 10th anniversary re-release of Zathura arrives with a combination of new and legacy bonus materials. Gone is the included DVD copy (replaced here with a voucher for a UV digital copy), the Sony previews collage, and the long-abandoned BD-Live functionality. Zathura: A Space Adventure Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation 

Frankly, there's not much here to make this worth an upgrade, and there's even less than the companion Jumanji anniversary release. The Chris Van Allsburg reading is a nice touch but hardly worth the upgrade cost. The rest of the content is nothing more than advertising for the Goosebumps movie. This is certainly the version to buy for fans who have yet to add Zathura to their Blu-ray collections, but previous owners should stick with what they have.
