Oliviero is a burned-out writer, living at his estate near Venice, his dead mother dominating his imagination. He is also a degenerate: sleeps with his maid and his ex-student, hosts Bacchanalia for local hippies, and humiliates his wife Irina in front of strangers. She lives in terror. When a young woman is murdered, police suspect Oliviero. Things get complicated when his young, beautiful, and self-confident niece, Floriana, pays an unexpected visit. A silver-haired stranger observes. More women die, and thoughts of harming Irina give Oliviero new inspiration. What's Floriana's game and who's the observant stranger? Watching all is a black cat named Satan.

Presented in its original aspect ratio of 1.85:1, encoded with MPEG-4 AVC and granted a 1080p transfer, Sergio Martino's Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key arrives on Blu-ray courtesy of MVD Entertainment Group/Arrow Video.
During the daylight footage clarity and detail are vastly improved. Predictably, image depth is also superior. Contrast and sharpness levels remain stable. Colors are also stable, but there is a very obvious shift towards an overall notably warmer range of warm color tonalities that I don't find convincing. For example, during the outdoor footage warm yellows and cyan nuances have overtaken all whites (see screencaptures #4, 18, and 21). The effect is also visible during select indoor sequences (see screencapture #10). It has impacted even the balance of black levels and introduced very light crushing (see screencapture #20). There are no traces of problematic degraining or sharpening adjustments. Overall image stability is excellent. Finally, the film looks healthier now -- big damage marks, cuts, and debris have been effectively removed. However, some small blemishes and larger vertical lines remain. All in all, in terms of detail and depth the improvements are substantial, but the color grading is unconvincing. My score is 3.75/5.00. (Note: This is a Region-Free A/B "locked" Blu-ray release. Therefore, you must have a native Region-A, Region-B, or Region-Free player in order to access its content).
There are two standard audio tracks on this Blu-ray release: English DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0 and Italian DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0. Optional English SDH and English subtitles are provided for the main feature.
The lossless English track is excellent. There are some very small dynamic fluctuations, but they were almost certainly introduced during the post-production dubbing. Clarity and depth are good. Bruno Nicolai's music is well rounded and balanced. There are no pops, audio dropouts, or digital distortions to report in our review.
Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key is arguably the most stylish film in Sergio Martino's filmography. It has that special atmosphere that these genre films are known for, but it is quite subversive. It is why I like it. It has an attitude that has been basically wiped out from contemporary cinema. The technical presentation of Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key is a bit frustrating. The film looks very healthy and vibrant, but the new color grading isn't convincing. RECOMMENDED (with reservations).
