The latest in a series of reimagining or updates of the Universal classic monsters, Director/Co-writer Leigh Whanell's 'Wolf Man' arrives on 4K
UHD disc in this 'Wolf Man 4K Limited Edition SteelBook' courtesy of Universal. The film stars Christopher Abbott ('Poor Things), Julia Garner ('Ozark'),
and Matilda Firth ('Subservience'), and
features a host of impressive practical effects and stunt work. The disc features a solid 2160p presentation and an engaging Dolby Atmos track.
Special features are highlighted by segments on the film's sound design and numerous prosthetics, along with an enlightening commentary by
Director/Co-Writer Leigh Whanell. The two discs found within (a 4K UHD disc and a Blu-ray disc each containing the feature film and special features)
are identical to those which comprise the standard UHD release. Please scroll down to the 'Special Features and Extras' section below for a discussion
of the newest SteelBook. A Digital Code redeemable through Movies Anywhere is also included.

When looking at the cover of the Wolf Man 4K Limited Edition SteelBook one's eye is immediately drawn to the unique rendering of the film's
title. "Wolf Man" is cleverly debossed and appears to be scratched into the SteelBook's surface. The full moon is almost perfectly centered in the "O",
but that heavenly body bleeds out of the letter's boundaries to the top and the right. Below the title, Charlotte (Julia Garner) and Ginger (Mathilda Firth)
hold hands as they trepidatiously walk toward the distant house. Charlotte's flashlight adds some meager illumination to the image, as do the lights
coming from Blake's father's house. Silhouettes of massive and imposing trees frame the image on each side. It's a cool, almost monochrome image
composed of blacks, whites, and icy blues. On the reverse, trees once again tower over the focal point of the image, here the dilapidated pick-up truck
that provides a slim hope of escape. It's distantly lit by an unseen source, presumably the exterior light of one of the outbuildings on the home's
property. The color scheme of the cover is carried over here with the addition of the amber glow of the unseen light source and the brown earth under
the truck. Universal's logo is found in the lower left corner, while the Blumhouse logo and product number are located in the bottom right. The spine
maintains the cover's color scheme and sports the film's logo in the center with Universal's logo at the bottom. When opening SteelBook, the Digital
Code resides under the two tabs on the left side. On the right side, the 4K UHD disc and the Blu-ray disc are stagger-stacked, each on its own hub, with
the 4K UHD disc on top. Removing the discs reveals a two-panel image of the woods that surround the remote home that serves as the film's primary
setting, shrouded in mist and illuminated only by an unseen moon. Fans should note that the SteelBook has a glossy finish that will show fingerprints
associated with normal handling. It's a spooky package that captures the atmosphere of the film quite well.

The entire package for the Wolf Man 4K Limited Edition SteelBook is wonderfully evocative of the film's atmosphere with the cover image incisively getting to the crux of the plot with Charlotte and Ginger alone in the remote Oregon homestead were they must rely on themselves to survive the terror of the Wolf Man. The cover is further enhanced with the debossed title, a touch more releases would do well to employ. The 2160p presentation of the film is quite strong allowing viewers to fully appreciate the myriad practical effects, and the Dolby Atmos audio track is impressively immersive and energetic. Those who are interested in adding the film to their collections but have yet to do so would be well advised to secure a copy of this release. The same holds true for avid SteelBook collectors.
