Werewolves Within Blu-ray Movie Review
Suck it, Best Buy.
Reviewed by Randy Miller III October 19, 2023
RLJ Entertainment's recent expansion of catalog title Blu-ray Steelbooks continues with Josh Ruben's Werewolves Within, an enjoyable
horror-comedy first released on Blu-ray back in 2021 and reviewed here. This is a modest upgrade overall, retaining similar design elements to the wide release, identical
disc content (i.e. no extras), and a DVD copy of the film. It's a low-risk purchase for packaging collectors and a decent jumping-on point for
newcomers.

Werewolves Within Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

This two-disc set ships in matte-finish Steelbook packaging that's similar at first glance to the 2021 Blu-ray. A few alterations have been made,
with more of the cast pictured (and listed) at the top and bottom, and the overall image itself sports a sharp reflective sheen that helps its design
elements pop under the right light. The interior splash image is a spooky close-up of the "Trespassers Must Die" sign seen in the film, while the Blu-ray
and DVD sit on overlapping hubs on the right side. The rear image is an equally dark image of central character Finn Wheeler (Sam Richardson) in an
expressive front-forward pose. Overall, a fine-looking design but more creativity would've been nice.
As hinted at earlier, both discs are devoid of bonus features like the 2021 Blu-ray.
Werewolves Within Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Josh Ruben's Werewolves Within is a perfectly enjoyable adaptation of a video game you've probably never heard of... and even if you have,
it's a pretty loose take on the source material. But this confident and funny horror-comedy is a surprisingly great time, with a terrific script and a cast
skilled enough to bring it to life. This new Steelbook is at least a year late to the party but a welcome release nonetheless, although the
continued lack of bonus features is pretty disappointing. It's possibly worth a purchase for established fans but the version to get if you're new.
