Two amiably aimless metal-head friends, Wayne and Garth, broadcast a talk-show from Wayne's basement on local public access television. The show comes to the attention of a sleazy network executive who wants to produce a big-budget version — but he also wants Wayne's girlfriend, a rock singer named Cassandra. Based on the recurring Saturday Night Live sketch of the same name.

Paramount has released the 1992 film 'Wayne's World," starring Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, directed by Penelope Spheeris, to the UHD format. New specifications include 2160p/Dolby Vision video and Dolby Atmos audio. The supplemental content is identical to that found on the 2009 Blu-ray, which is not included in this package.
The included screenshots are sourced from a 1080p Blu-ray disc.
Party time! Wayne's World looks excellent on the UHD format. Paramount's 2160p/Dolby Vision UHD presentation is marvelous. The picture is
very filmic, presenting a natural grain structure that does wonders for the presentation. As opposed to the old Blu-ray, this is a very firm, healthy
picture with an organic appeal that looks straight out of theaters. The studio has not performed any grievous noise reduction or tampering. Grain
appears to be largely intact and naturally occurring. The result is an image that looks quite good, and which yields superb details across the board, right
down to little beads of sweat on a Pepsi can around the 50-minute mark. Facial characteristics are incredibly revealing, as are individual hairs, while
clothes and furnishings leap off the screen with remarkable definition. The picture appears to be free of any unwanted source blemishes or encode
faults, too.
The Dolby Vision color grading is also a boost to the film. The blue titles seen in the opening moments offer terrific vibrance and depth, well beyond the
old Blu-ray's capabilities. Colors are very natural, here with gains to depth and boldness and stability. Colors leap off the screen, whether simple
elements like colors on neckties or the furnishings around the basement studio, all with a clarity and accuracy that far surpasses any previous home
video version. Black levels are majestic, skin tones delight, and whites are perfectly crisp and bright. This one is a winner!
Wayne's World has also received an audio upgrade on the UHD format. Paramount has delivered a superb Dolby Atmos audio presentation that springs new life into the presentation. The track is unsurprisingly highlighted by its most iconic moment, the Bohemian Rhapsody scene early on. It is here where the Atmos track is to the film's advantage. The music spills form every channel with incredible depth and detail. Clarity is terrific, too, and the listener will feel right at home and right in the car with Wayne, Garth, and friends. Listeners will also find excellent immersive and fully encompassing din at the Heavy Metal bar a the 13-minute mark. A performance at the 58:40 mark is also full and lively, using every speaker to its fullest. Music is just where it's at with this Atmos track, but of course supportive effects are well positioned and detailed and dialogue is crystal-clear, too. This is great upgrade for this release.
Paramount releases Wayne's World to the UHD format with only the legacy extras from the 2009 Blu-ray, which is not included, so they all
appear on the UHD disc. For full coverage, please click here.
Paramount has done right by Wayne's World on the UHD format. The new picture and sound presentations are terrific, and you, too, should be saying, "oh yes, it will be mine." Recommended!
