The success of their TV show allows Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar to finally move out of their parents' homes, but now they have to figure out what to do with their lives. Wayne's girlfriend, up-and-coming rock star Cassandra, is enjoying a career boost thanks to her new manager, Bobby Cohn, but Garth thinks Bobby is more interested in her body than her place on the charts. Meanwhile, Wayne is visited in a dream by the late Jim Morrison, who convinces him to promote a massive rock festival, "Waynestock," while Garth is finally relieved of his pesky virginity by femme fatale Honey Hornee, who has a hidden agenda. Sequel to the 1992 hit.

The release introduces a spectacular 4K makeover sourced from the original camera negative and finalized at Paramount. In native 4K, it can be viewed with Dolby Vision and HDR grades. I chose to view it in its entirety with Dolby Vision. Later, I spent time with its 1080p presentation on the Blu-ray.
Wayne's World 2 looks quite incredible in native 4K and 1080p. In native 4K, often times the color palette is simply astonishing, but there are many, many areas where I thought that the visuals looked just as great in 1080p on the Blu-ray. It is not because the native 4K presentation should do more to impress, rather it is because the quality of the 4K makeover is sensational and the 1080p presentation replicates it pretty darn well. In native 4K, the Dolby Vision grade handles all darker areas very well, so there are no instances of flattening or crushing in backgrounds. Also, all visuals look very sharp but retain a wonderful natural appearance, which on my system was most impressive. Trained eyes will easily appreciate the improved dynamic range of the 4K visuals, but I must mention again that the 1080p visuals are mighty impressive as well. I did not encounter any encoding anomalies to report in our review. The entire film looks spotless as well.

There are two standard audio tracks on this release: English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. Optional English SDH subtitles are provided for the main feature.
I used the 5.1 track. I thought that the quality of the audio was outstanding. For example, all of the music acts sound great, and the random exchanges and crowd noise add plenty to the desired atmosphere. On the other hand, it must be acknowledged that this atmosphere is not defined by a wide range of special dynamic contrasts. All exchanges are clear, sharp, and easy to follow. I did not encounter any encoding anomalies to report.

4K BLU-RAY DISC

I can't see much of a difference between Wayne's World and Wayne's World 2. Some folks have argued that the first film works much better, but I think that they are equally silly, rehashing the same material to appeal to the same demographic group. Both are very much a product of their time too, so if you were not around when they were made, you are most likely not going to be thrilled with their goofy stars and sense of humor. Kino Lorber's combo pack introduces a spectacular 4K makeover of Wayne's World 2, recently prepared at Paramount.
