Paramount and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for Steven Spielberg's alien invasion remake 'War of the Worlds.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Paramount's glossy smooth SteelBook features some dark surface areas but doesn't show serious fingerprinting. The front panel depicts the classic
image of the alien hand with three "fingers" and what look like suction cups at the ends holding the enflamed globe. There are some blood
vessel-looking tentacles
wrapped around the alien wrist. The film's title features prominently at the top in silvery letters with red accents that give them the illusion of size and
depth. Tom Cruise's name features prominently above, with Spielberg's sandwiched in between. The rear panel depicts Cruise's Ray Ferrier looking
upwards at an intense beam of alien light. He's standing in a grassy field with a tree in the background. The SteelBook logo is bottom center while a
Paramount logo, legalese, and a model number line the bottom in tiny white letters. The spine features the film's title center in silver letters. A
Paramount logo appears top and an UltraHD logo and a model number at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features an electrifying, terrifying image of the tripods attacking en masse.
Several of the alien machines can be seen on the left while a massive sinking ship can be seen on the right. It is a nighttime scene allowing for the
lights and lightning-type effects to be seen in full power.

War of the Worlds is a greatly entertaining Sci-Fi film and its SteelBook is terrific. A classic image graces the front and a cool action shot appears inside. The rear panel exterior may be a little uninspired, but the sum SteelBook total is very nice. Add in a first-rate UHD and this package comes very highly recommended.
