Following the trend of raunchy direct-to-video sex comedies popularized in the early to mid 80s, director Rick Sloane (Hobgoblins) decided to take his own stab at the sub-genre, creating the surprise hit franchise VICE ACADEMY in 1989. Featuring the comedic exploits of undercover female vice cops who go head-to-head with everything from smut film producers to arch villainesses with plans for sexual world domination, each film mixes T&A with broad slapstick humor and hijinks.

“Vice Academy” began with a simple mission to create a “Police Academy” rip-off for writer/director Rick Sloane, and soon became the helmer’s bread and butter, resulting in six movies over ten years. Sloane worked diligently to keep video stores and basic cable networks stocked with the misadventures of vice cops and their constant battle with minimal clothing and criminal scum, with the material growing more cartoonish as the series carried on. Vinegar Syndrome collects the first three installments for their release, bringing 1989’s “Vice Academy,” 1990’s “Vice Academy Part 2,” and 1991’s “Vice Academy Part 3” to Blu-ray.

  • "Going Undercover" (35:07, HD) is an interview with star Ginger Lynn, who credits "Vice Academy" as one of her first jobs after leaving the adult film business, drawn to the script and its "so bad, it's brilliant" appeal. Lynn goes into the specifics of her relationship with co-star Linnea Quigley, enjoying her company while others assumed they hated each other. She also assesses Sloane's directorial presence and her personal relationship with the helmer, dealing with his low-budget shooting style.
