Vesper Blu-ray Movie Review
Wash your hands, people.
Reviewed by Randy Miller III February 20, 2024
RLJ Entertainment's recent onslaught of catalog Steelbooks continues with Kristina Buožytė and Bruno Samper's 2022 film Vesper, an
interesting little post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller first released on Blu-ray in January 2023 and reviewed here by yours truly. Like RLJ's other recent Steelbook re-issues, this is a
modest upgrade overall and aimed almost exclusively at packaging collectors, as it features identical disc content and a bonus DVD copy of the film.

2023 Blu-ray.

Vesper Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

This two-disc release ships in standard Steelbook packaging that looks quite nice in-hand, with a semi-reflective metallic sheen highlighting the
champagne-colored background of its front cover collage. It's back cover recycles the standard Blu-ray's front image, depicting Vesper facing down a
massive Citadel far in the distance. Inside is a two-panel spread with our young heroine trudging through the wasteland alongside a floating drone.
Both discs sit on overlapping hubs to the right. It's a solid design that should appeal to collectors and die-hard fans.
Four bite-sized bonus featurettes are included and identical to those found on IFC's 2023 Blu-ray.
- A Hero in the Wasteland (2:15)
- A Chronicle of the Future (3:58)
- The World of Tomorrow (2:56)
Vesper Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Kristina Buožytė and Bruno Samper's Vesper isn't perfect sci-fi entertainment but it's got a few great ideas, impressive visuals and effects, and
it does a respectable amount of of world-building for pennies on the dollar. I have a feeling this film might age better than most in the genre, even if
for now I'll place it in the "good, not great" category. Despite IFC's 2023 Blu-ray being barely a year old, they've already gone to the well for this Steelbook re-issue; it may
irk fans who would've rather had this to begin with, but it's still a nice-looking package that collectors will enjoy.
