Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked vigilante known only as "V." Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he detonates two London landmarks and takes over the government-controlled airwaves, urging his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about V's mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself – and emerges as his unlikely ally in the culmination of his plot to bring freedom and justice back to a society fraught with cruelty and corruption.

One of the best films of the 2000's, V for Vendetta is an action-packed powerhouse with a thought provoking storyline. Adapted from the graphic novel by Alan Moore (Watchmen), the film was produced and written for the screen by the Wachowski's (The Matrix, Cloud Atlas). With the undeniably gifted direction of James McTeigue (Sense8, Ninja Assassin), V for Vendetta is an edge-of-the-seat cinematic experience.
The story of the film focuses on a masked freedom fighter, V (Hugo Weaving), who crusades against a tyrannical government with the help of a beautiful young woman, Evey (Natalie Portman). In a society of many brainwashed citizens and a dangerous government, it is up to individuals who believe in the power inherit in us all. Can V save the people with the help of Evey?
One of the best things about V for Vendetta is the remarkable performances by Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving. Both of the performers are top-notch in their respective roles and manage to carry dramatic weight throughout the film. The actors bounce off each other and bring a sense of magic, realism, and gravitas to their parts. Portman delivers one of her career best performances.
V for Vendetta even features a killer magic soundtrack of fun tunes and a great score by the brilliant Dario Marianelli (Pride and Prejudice, Kubo and the Two Strings). Breathtaking cinematography by Adrian Biddle (Aliens, The Princess Bride) makes the visual component even more enticing and memorable. Then there's the thrilling special effects that “wow” time and time again. The film continues to stand as an impressive achievement. Now on 4K UHD Blu-ray, V for Vendetta is a essential.
