Lois Weber was a pioneer of the motion-picture industry and was an essential artist of the silent film era. Working in the film industry as an actress, screenwriter, and director, Weber paved the way for auteur filmmaking and was one of the earliest female filmmakers to work in the Hollywood industry. With an ambitious dedication to her craft, Weber crafted film-after-film (making over 100 films as a director alone).

Though not all of Weber’s early silent-era productions survive, what does survive is a testament to her outstanding sense of craft and dedication to her artistry. Working on a variety of projects that broke down barriers (and pushed Hollywood censors to their worrying limits), Weber was a true visionary. Weber was an artist, through-and-through.

Two Films by Lois Weber Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation 

Two Films by Lois Weber is an outstanding collection of two under-seen silent era gems. The films included in the set are wonderful and are well worth owning. Both Sensation Seekers and A Chapter in Her Life are entertaining classics. The Blu-ray release includes worthwhile 2K restorations and nice DTS-HD Master Audio lossless audio (with new score recordings). The release includes an exclusive audio commentary track for Sensation Seekers as well. Lois Weber was an early pioneer of female auteur filmmakers and she helped to push the cinematic landscape forward with her sense of originality, charm, and sophistication. Highly recommended.
