Twisters 4K Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Randy Miller III October 22, 2024
Released alongside standard 4K/Blu-ray combo
pack and Blu-ray editions, Universal has
partnered with Walmart on a store-exclusive 4K/Blu-ray Steelbook edition of Lee Isaac Chung's Twisters. All on-disc contents are identical to
the 4K wide release, making this one more of a cosmetic upgrade aimed at packaging collectors and die-hard fans.

For a synopsis and critique of the film, please see Justin Dekker's reviews linked above. I was able to catch
Twisters theatrically and found it
to be a fun time at the movies; it doesn't have quite the punch or presumed staying power as
the original 1996 film... but as far as almost 30-year sequels go, this one's actually pretty damn
good.

For coverage of the included 4K and Blu-ray disc's separate transfers, please see Justin Dekker's reviews of both the standard 4K/Blu-ray combo pack and Blu-ray; unsurprisingly, they're both right on target.

Similarly, details about the Dolby Atmos mix (identical on both discs) can be found in either review linked above.
Twisters 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

This two-disc release ships in a glossy Steelbook case adorned with ultra-dark wraparound art featuring Tyler Owens' truck deftly fleeing (or perhaps
shrewdly toying with?) a pair of approaching tornadoes in a menacing gray sky. Inside is another two-panel spread featuring same vehicle from behind
facing a similarly foreboding storm. Both discs sit on overlapping hubs on the right side. No big cast heads here -- just dark clouds and pimped-out
trucks.
On disc contents are identical to the standard 4K/Blu-ray combo pack and are detailed in the
linked review.
Twisters 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Arriving in theaters almost 30 years after Jan De Bont's immensely popular Twister, Lee Isaac Chung's belated sequel Twisters is a
surprisingly entertaining and well-made thriller that may not exactly surpass the original but still holds its own. Universal's standard 4K/Blu-ray combo pack and Blu-ray options are perfectly fine for fans, as they've
both got outstanding A/V merits and a nice little pile of bonus features to boot. This Walmart-exclusive 4K/Blu-ray Steelbook combo pack ups the ante
for packaging collectors, but all on-disc content is exactly the same.
