Triangle is a horror-thriller gem that has become a cult favorite with audiences over the years. Executive produced by Sara Giles (Spider, Black Book), Mark Gooder (Get the Gringo, Sting), Stefanie Huie (Infestation, Beast Mode), Steve Norris (Belle, Harry Brown), and Jason Rosamond, Triangle is unexpectedly thrilling with several big twists and turns. Audiences will appreciate the brave genre filmmaking.
A group of five friends decide to set out for an adventure with their sea-sailing yacht. Yet the adventure turns into a nightmare when the yacht is overturned during a storm and the friends find themselves boarding a mysterious ship that arrives to help rescue them after the yacht is destroyed. Yet the mysterious ship is more than an ordinary ship and what happens after seems unexplainable: an unexpected sequence of events sets off and time-travel becomes intertwined as events happen repeatedly and one bad mistake happens after another. One thing is for certain: Jess (Melissa George) is determined to find her way back home and will do anything to be reunited with her son.
Melissa George impresses as the lead of the film. George is a terrific actress and she sinks into the role with a sense of dedication that isn’t always apparent. The role provided the actress with an opportunity to delve into her character on several levels – the determined mother, the determined survivor, and the dangerous fighter who is losing control of herself on board a ship of terror. A great performance.
The supporting cast includes Tommy (Joshua McIvor), Jack (Jack Taylor), Greg (Michael Dorman), Downey (Henry Nixon), Sally (Rachael Carpani), Heather (Emma Lung), and Victor (Liam Hemsworth). The supporting cast does a good job with their respective roles in the feature-film. Hemsworth is of particular praise and offers a surprisingly subtle and impressive performance as one of the friends attempting to survive on the ship. The entire ensemble is good and the actors do well together.

The score composed by Christian Henson (Black Death, Chasing Liberty) is excellent and adds to the genre filmmaking. Henson does a superb job with the score and it provides plenty of eerie and fun energy to the production. The score is a perfect backdrop to the mayhem onboard the ship.
Featuring lush cinematography by Robert Humphreys (Somersault, The Hunter), Triangle is a beautifully lensed feature. The visuals play a key role in the filmmaking. The cinematography by Humphreys is an exhilarating part of the experience. The frenzied visuals on board the ship are so well done and are lensed perfectly.
Edited by Stuart Gazzard (Black Death, Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel), Triangle is well-paced. The rhythm and flow of the filmmaking is well done. There is a sense of cohesion to the film’s editing. The editing becomes more experimental in the second half of the feature and even uses the editing to create a visual sensation of time skipping at some points and it is creatively done and works exceptionally well with the film.
The production designs by Melinda Doring (Berlin Syndrome, The Home Song Stories) are excellent and manage to evoke the eerie dread of the ship. The designs are impressive and work well alongside the CGI visuals of the exterior of the ship. The on-board production design efforts create a sense of vast expansiveness and the efforts made the film all the more compelling. These efforts are also highlighted well alongside the solid art direction by Bill Booth (Thor: Ragnarok, Daybreakers). Impressive all around. The production values are top-notch.
The costume designs by Steven Noble (The Theory of Everything, Under the Skin) are incredible and work well for the entire cast of characters. Each of the characters in the film has a distinct personality and the costuming reflects these qualities well. The costume designs do a great job of highlighting this with the characters and making them more compelling and believable for audiences.
Written and directed by Christopher Smith (Black Death, Severance), Triangle is a compelling horror film and one that is every-bit a thriller, too. Triangle is a lot of fun and it has a great concept that is superbly executed. The filmmaking style is superb and creates plenty of compelling atmosphere. Triangle is an undeniable cult gem and a film that deserves a wider audience. Don’t miss this intense thrill-ride. An excellent script and strong direction make it a must-see for genre fans (and it even has science-fiction elements with time travel tossed into the equation). Triangle is thematically all about the mistakes that people make and how desperate human beings can be to course-correct them – and that we can only move forward.

Released on Blu-ray by Umbrella Entertainment, Triangle is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high-definition in the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1 widescreen. The high-definition video is excellent looking throughout the presentation. The colors are robust and colorful. The encoding is well done. The transfer is crisp, clear, and true to the source cinematography. A well-done presentation by Umbrella Entertainment.

The release is presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The surround sound presentation is exceptional. The surrounds are actively engaged throughout the presentation. The lossless audio also allows for crisp clarity and detail throughout. The score is well reproduced and highlighted. A pleasing soundstage. A well-done presentation from beginning to end.

Triangle is an enormously entertaining and intelligent horror-thriller with science-fiction elements.
