Tremors: 7-Movie Collection Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Justin Dekker August 29, 2024

The franchise that began in 1990 with the unlikely classic film starring Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Michael Gross, and Reba McEntire, reemerges on Blu- ray disc in the Limited Edition 'Tremors: 7-Movie Collection'. Bringing each chapter in the saga together in one space-saving release, while there isn't any new supplemental material, all save two of the dated legacy features from the previous releases are brought forward here. The seven films are spread across 5 discs. A slipcover isn't included, but this title is packaged with a Digital Code redeemable through Movies Anywhere.

Somehow, and rather surprisingly, the Tremors franchise ran for 30 years. What began with a quirky and somewhat silly star- studded film in 1990, added what is (for now, at least) its final chapter in 2020 with Tremors: Shrieker Island. Throughout the franchise's lifespan, Michael Gross's Burt Gummer was the unifying thread in the cast, appearing in the majority of the sequels. While none of the direct-to-video adventures ever really recaptured the lightning in a bottle that was the first film, there is much to enjoy in most of the series's films focused on improbable monsters.

Tremors: 7-Movie Collection Blu-ray Movie, Video Quality  4.0 of 5

The two discs included in this set that house the first four films are identical to those found in the Tremors: Attack Pack from 2013. As such, their transfers are slightly improved over the original releases, with a bit less noise reduction on display, but they are still grainy and occasionally soft. They aren't perfect transfers, but they are perfectly watchable. The discs for Tremors 5: Bloodlines, Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell, and Tremors: Shrieker Island match those of their previous releases and possess the strongest transfers of the set. For an assessment of the 1080p presentations of each of the Tremors films, please follow the links below.

Tremors: 7-Movie Collection Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.0 of 5

Loaded with all of the scares and gore the series's PG/PG-13 ratings will allow, the entire decades-long struggle for survival against the "Graboids" is bundled together here in one convenient collection. While the first film is certainly the best of the bunch, there is a good deal of fun to be had with most of the sequels as well. The video presentation improves with the later installments, the audio tracks are solid across the board, and supplemental features tend toward the lighter side. To fans of the franchise, the Limited Edition Tremors: 7-Movie Collection comes recommended.
