Tremors 4: The Legend Begins Blu-ray Movie Review
Still shakin'
Reviewed by Martin Liebman February 25, 2015
Tremors 4: The Legend Begins is currently only available as part of the four-film, two-disc "Attack Pack."
The town of Rejection's mining boom comes to a screeching halt, and its population rapidly dwindles, when workers are suddenly, mysteriously, and in
large numbers, killed. The mine's
owner, Hiram Gummer (Michael Gross), arrives from Philadelphia to oversee his investment. He and the remaining townspeople quickly come to
realize that they
are dealing with a subterranean power well beyond their control.

This town needs a fresh start. Where to begin...
Tremors 4 is essentially the franchise's
Back to the Future III, traveling back to the old West where distant
relatives and familiar sights remain, but are somewhat different. For example, Hiram Gummer is the only man in town not in some way armed or
familiar with firearms. It
makes for a fun little excuse to kill 100 minutes, though the movie suffers from an overabundance of fluff and filler when the townsfolk aren't battling
monsters.
Tremors 4: The Legend Begins Blu-ray Movie, Video Quality

Tremors 4: The Legend Begins features a 1080p, VC-1 encoded, 1.85:1-framed transfer. The film's dusty, earthy, sun-baked palette is nicely
presented, pushing a bit warm, which is also evident in flesh tones. Moderately spiky grain remains. Details often satisfy with good, general
complexity: weathered wood, well-used wagons and covers, and terrain are nicely textured and complexly so. However, some rock faces and weeds
can look a little soft and smeary.
Black crush is a minor issue in dark nighttime exteriors. A few edge halos and a couple of random pops and specks interfere with the presentation.
Tremors 4: The Legend Begins Blu-ray Movie, Audio Quality

Tremors 4: The Legend Begins features an aggressive DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless soundtrack. It's fun and energetic, with a wide stage
and healthy surround support and bass. It does feel a little overcooked at times, cranked up just to heighten the effect of gunfire or Graboids jumping
out of the rocky terrain. Music is clear and detailed but again a little more aggressive than normal. Dialogue is center balanced and accurate.
