Transformers: Age of Extinction Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman August 22, 2020
Paramount and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for the franchise Sci-Fi Action film 'Transformers: Age of
Extinction.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the 2014 wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review
below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

The SteelBook is shiny and smooth; it will attract and display fingerprints. The front cover depicts Optimus Prime down on one knee, leaning his weight
on his left arm, which is on the ground. In his right arm is a massive sword. Behind him is a raging fire, lending most of the color to an otherwise dark
and bleak image where even the Autobot's red and blue paint is difficult to see. The film's title appears in silverly letters top center, accompanied by "A
Michael Bay Film" text. There are some reflective components on the front, including the sword and notably some of the accents on the Transformer's
legs and arms. The rear panel is simply a black background with a large dark gray Autobot logo center. At the bottom are Hasbro and Paramount logos
as well as some legalese and the "SteelBook" emblem. The spine is simply black with the film's title center. Paramount and Blu-ray logos appear at the
top and bottom, respectively.
Inside, the digital copy code floats; there are no left-hand-side tabs to hold it secure. The three discs, two Blu-ray and one DVD, are situated on the
right
and the left, on the left as a single disc on its own hub and on the right in the familiar
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features nothing more than a brushed metal surface.

The front cover for Transformers: Age of Extinction is pretty cool, framing its hero in fire and offering a good splash of contrasting color to the
otherwise low-key rear panel and interior spread. The movie is so-so but the Blu-ray is top-notch. Recommended for film and franchise fans as well as
SteelBook collectors.
